In 2015 I was making cremation ashes jewellery without much guidance; there weren’t any tutorials online for adding colour so I followed nail art videos and artists in Japan making kawaii jewellery pieces with mica powders and just kind of found my way. I was asked by friends around the world how I got certain design looks and that was the start of my YouTube channel and my teaching business Keepsaker Supplies.

We can do literally any colour, just send us the name of the shade and we’ll do a quick mockup with your ashes and that colour before we start your piece. You can post us eyeshadow to include. We have 13 sparkle colours and they can be lightened, darkened, mixed or swirled. We have pearlescent colours which glow green, for example, in specific lights, or even sparkle-free alcohol inks and acrylics. We have popular styles like “Beach Scene”, Rainbow or “Blue Lagoon” (aquas, greens, blues and teals).

What can be included in an ashes necklace?

• Lock of hair from your loved one, you can ask the funeral home or collect some from their brush
• Fur, ask your vet or carefully collect some from their bed or comb (a little can go a long way)
• Dried flowers such as forget me nots or petals from their funeral. You can press petals in a book to dry or use silica gel sachets (moisture absorbers)
• Fabric from the inside seam of their favourite shirt, tie, family tartan or wedding dress. A piece the size of a business card is enough
• Sparkles, mica, holographic flecks, pigments and crushed precious stones or bello opal. Birthstones are popular and make ashes jewellery even more personal
• Precious metal leaf such as gold, silver and even palladium and platinum
• Words and pictures – these can be printed on acetate and included within the resin if you prefer this to engraving

The Personal Touch: Engraving & Chains

We offer free customisation here at Tree of Opals. Text engraving, handwriting & handprints are always free. You can send us a photo of a birthday card, Valentine’s Day card or even their diary entry and we will use a bit of magic to turn it into an engraved cremation ashes necklace.

Size inclusive chains are something we are really proud of! When I was a UK dress size 24 I wore a 26″ chain and it sat at “matinee length” (level with the top of my armpits) and when I was a UK dress size 8 I wore a 16″ chain and it sat lower down on my chest. We cut and refinish chains ourselves in the workshop so you can request any length you like, from 14″/35cm (choker/small adult) to 30″/75cm (long pendant or larger neck). Safety & Trust

• The System: We use a QR Code System. This is a modern tracking method—every inclusion is tracked digitally from the moment it arrives in Bath to the moment it leaves. We’ll update your order through each stage, from “inclusions received” to “ready to send” and add notes where needed. You can log in to view any time if you don’t receive the automated emails.

• The Kit: We send a professional inclusion kit after you order with your order info and QR code. When you send it back, you’ll send us the tracking number and we can keep an eye out and get a notification from Royal Mail when it arrives.

• The Expertise: We’ve been teaching small businesses how to make and send these kits for years. Other memorial jewellers learn from Nikki, so you’re in safe hands.
